The Abernathy House shares a long history with the charming small town of Pittsburg, Texas. This lovely Queen Ann Victoria home was constructed in 1896 as a family residence.
The home was built by George Barber for D.H. Abernathy, a prominent dry goods merchant. His wife, Mary Lou Pitts Abernathy was the niece of Major W.H. Pitts, the original founder of Pittsburg.

Mr. Abernathy, the original owner, served as mayor of Pittsburg for 52 years. The Abernathy House always remained a landmark of the town; it underwent expansions after WWII, but the character of the home has remained unchanged.
In 2001, The Abernathy House was purchased by The Twining Family, who opened the venue's doors for events... and they've been celebrating special occasions ever since! They continue to operate the venue and maintain the historic home today.
